win 2k and zip 100 drive

I have an old external iomega 100mb zip drive.  Its a parallel port type.  I had it since 1995 and had no problems with it yet.

The other day I installed win 2k.  When I access the zip drive from within win 2k, it takes a very long time.  It seems to take more than 20 seconds.  At this time the computer locks up.  The mouse cursor freezes as well as the keyboard.  After 20 seconds then the zip drive is accessed and the data is shown.  The computer is now back to normal.

I have installed the latest zip drivers from the iomega site but with no luck.  The zip drive works perfect in win95, 98 and ME.  No lag time with these 3 OSs.  I have read on the iomega forum that alot of other people are having the same problem with this lag time in win 2k.  Any ideas?

Also, go into your bios setup and make sure you have ECP or EPP 1.9 enabled, if you only have 1.7 that should work as well...most bios\'s ship with spp enabled and when the computer initilizes spp devices, it\'ll bog the system down on some motherboards, ecp/epp1.7/1.9 also allows for a somewhat faster data throughput.

Hope this is of help for you...
