Someone banned HyBryMonster and why? I was talking to him on msn and he was upset. He is one of the only people i trust to do mms on ttg and on Runescape, he has never scammed. Anyone know why? Bloodogre? HyBryMoster has more posts than i do

Yeah i think it was because of spamming their website.
They made lots of topics saying: JOIN [Name of the Site]! , etc,etc....

thats fuc.ked up, they ban hybrid for advertizing hostile, but pin the other topic of rs2mm.

yea they talk about not advertising other sites but they Pin rs2mm's..... That is very messed up! WOW. I cant beleive they would do this to Hybrymonster after he worked so hard, also it is not fair at all to do! Pining an advertisment. lol

RS2MM should not have been pinned, I have deleted that topic. The problem I have is with people dissing this forum and telling everyone to come to theirs instead. If you don't like this forum and want to make your own, that's fine. If you want to let some of your friends on this forum know about it, that's ok, just post once and in an appropriate forum (at worst you should post in General Discussion, it'll get moved but at least you tried). If you're just talking about a site in general that's not yours, General Discussion would probably be ok. Pimping your site, that's more appropriate in Idle Chat. Making dozens of posts in multiple forums (General, For Sale, etc.) saying how bad this site is and how awesome yours will be and sign up now and you'll be a mod, etc. etc., is not going to be tolerated.

If this site is so bad, why are you here in the first place? And what have YOU done to make it a better place? Have you reported any posts? Made any suggestions (preferably in the proper forum, i.e. Site Feedback)? No, you just want to be popular too, so you make your own free forum and do whatever you can to get someone to visit it.

Again, I don't forbid talking about other sites (many, many forums will ban all website links). I also don't forbid you talking bad about the site (check Site Feedback, some people have complained there, their posts haven't been deleted). I WON'T tolerate someone talking bad about this site just to promote theirs. I consider that spamming, and will react accordingly.

Im here to sell/buy accounts/pins/mills. Thats why I have 45+ trans and 30+ mms. I was just curous about Hybrymonster getting banned after devoting alot of his time for you guys... Thats all...

Just reading all this, you banned hybrid for advertising....yet all the scammers are not banned? whats up with that? this is the first thing i seen a admin do in a flipping long time, and all that happens is one of the most trusted gets banned. Just a personal appinion, but thats kinda stupid. Should all the scammers on the scammers list be banned?

I take care of what I personally see. Now, I can see a post where someone says they'll give you _______, just email them your username and password. That is definitely a scam, no question about it, they're banned (assuming I see it, of course). I can see another post where someone says they want to trade a ______ for a ______. I have no idea if they're going to scam or not. Even if someone says "soandso is a scammer I have proof!" it doesn't mean much. It's not hard to post a fake screenshot, make up an im conversation that "proves" they're a scammer, etc. Kinda hard to tell for sure. Basically, if enough people agree that someone's a scammer, or just a handful of trusted people say someone's a scammer, then that seals the deal.

Spam is pretty easy to pick out, just like the first example of scamming. I don't have to wait and see if other people agree that it was spam. It's right there, in the spammer's own words, for anyone to see. It wasn't in a conversation elsewhere, then a screenshot made, then posted here. The spammer posted it right here, in black and white.

We have a zero tolerance policy on both scammers and spammers. If I know you're spamming or scamming, you're outta here. Now, I don't always catch it right away (for all the complaints, hardly anyone uses the report button, which brings a post to my immediate attention), plus I'm the only one who can do a true ban (where it shows up under their username). It's possible that others have been banned, but a regular moderator did it, in which case technically they were suspended for a set amount of time (a suspension that lasts until say, 2034 is as good as a permanent ban in my opinion), and it will NOT show up under their username. So it's possible that some of these scammers/spammers are being banned without you knowing it. If you see them still posting and everyone knows they're a scammer/spammer, then report their posts, pm a mod, etc. Don't just grumble about it.

BTW, just came to me...the trader feedback forum wasn't made to notify mods and myself about scammers, though perhaps that needs to be rethought now that I think about it. Its function was to let users get a general feel about a person before they made a trade. Just because someone said someone else scammed them, doesn't make it true. If you see one or two posts saying a certain user is a scammer, but dozens saying they had a successful trade, then you would probably feel ok doing a trade (the one or two posters saying they were scammed were perhaps scammers themselves, trying to show off, or whatever). If you see a lot of different people saying a certain user scammed them, then you'd probably shy away from dealing with them. Again, that was that section's purpose, there may be a better way for me to do things.

I totally forgot about the report button. And I promise that if I see obvious/ blatant scamming (like send in your pin #) I will use that report button. I love TTG and I’m glad to see it back up and running. I was concerned there when you guys went down for a day or 2. I’ll try and do my part and hope that others will see this thread, it is very informative. But are these people going to be IP banned? Won’t they just start new accounts? And was HyBryMonster given a warning?

I'm the only one that can do an ip ban. So if a mod bans (suspends) someone, then yes they could just go and create another account (though they would have to have a new email account). I've had a few trouble makers pointed out that were obviously just the same person (most won't go to the trouble of constantly creating new emails just to reregister at the same site), in that case I'll go through every single ip they use and as long as none would affect a lot of others, I do a ban of the whole ip range (so if their ip was 15.127.32.61, I would ban 15.127.32.* which bans all ips from 15.127.32.1 to 15.127.32.254). Sometimes this still affects other people, but I'd rather have a few innocent people banned from the forum (not directly, but because of their ip) and have a scammer kept out, than to let everyone on.

Sometimes I can't do an ip ban because it would affect a LOT of innocent people (aol is bad about using a handful of ip addresses for a lot of people, everyone has their own ip when they dial up but instead of connecting to the site directly it may go through one of aol's proxy/cache servers, so I get that ip instead).

We do what we can, it's not perfect, but we do try. And no, HyBryMonster was not given a warning. Like I said, zero-tolerance for spamming and scamming (means, no warnings, no second chances, if there's no doubt to me that you scammed or spammed, you're outta here). I know some posts have been iffy, but if you talk trash about this forum just to get someone to join yours, that's spam in my book. If you want to tell everyone about your new site, just go to Idle Chat, tell people about it (without dissing any other site/forum out there), and you're fine.

Wow, joeston i hope he stays This time, and Hybryd in a way didn't deserve a ban, but in a way did as he was advertising on almost every black market i go on. oh and joeston , can you change my Member status to Elite, cus im on the list but you havent been on for a long time, probably had something important to do. (sorry for the spelling mistakes)
