Well,

I've learned alot about computers and am careful about what I view and where I go on the internet, but I do have a new spyware problem.  My search page results are being hijacked.  I recognized some items in my hijackthis log from other users problems, but would like expert help to ensure I get everything.  Here is my hijackthis log:

Can you do the following please

Download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe
Save it to your desktop, don't run it yet

Print the rest of these instructions or save them too a text file on desktop
Close all unnecessary open windows that are open
Including this browser

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Double click on Fixwareout.exe and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
Allow access thru your firewall if prompted
 You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.  Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads a text will open (report.txt)

Please post report.txt along with a fresh hijackthis log please

I have been using Adaware SE, but it was locking up this morning when I tried to run it so I uninstalled it.  I've been happy with adaware, but I'm open to suggestions.  Search results seem to be working properly.  Here is the other list requested.  Again, if you have any spyware scanners you think are best, let me know.

Sorry for the delayYou should still do the following

Your version of Sun Java is out of date and should be updated for security reasons
==Download the latest version of  Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation Multi-language
Save the file to your Desktop.
Don't install it yet

Open your Windows control panel>>Start>>control Panel
Ensure you are in Classic view
Double click to open the Java Icon>>Under the Cache tab select "Clear Cache"
OK any prompts

Access your Add/remove programs via Control Panel
Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE or Java 2 Runtime Environment.... )
eg..Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
They should have the following icon next to it:  
Select it and click Remove

Also, in add/remove programs
If you didn't intentionally install Viewpoint Media Player
Remove it also, it get's unintentionally installed at most times

Open Hijackthis>>Open Misc tools section>>Open "Delete File on Reboot"
In the open field copy and paste the next line in bold and then click the OPEN button

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CSNQP.EXE

Hijackthis should prompt that the computer will be deleted and to Reboot your computer
DON'T reboot yet
Instead use "Delete File on Reboot" and do the exact same procedure on the next line in bold

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DMAMZ.EXE

This time allow the computer to reboot

Back in Windows

Double click to install the latest version of Java
follow the prompts
After installation you can delete the installer from your desktop

I would reinstall Ad-Aware and update it and run a scan
Here is a direct link

Also, I would include the next tools to your computer
*Install  SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 by JavaCool  
    *Will block bad ActiveX Controls
    *Block Malevolent cookies in Internet Explorer and Firefox
    *Restrict actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer
After installation, Check for updates
After updating, select "Protection" on the Left
Then select "Enable all Protection"
"Check for updates every couple of weeks"
after every update just simply click the "enable protection on all unprotected items"

Another great Antispyware scanner which compliments Ad-Aware very well
Download and Install Spybot 1.4 from
HERE

After installation--Click the UPDATE button on the left
SEARCH FOR UPDATES on the right
Check, and then download all updates
After update is complete

Click the "Search & Destroy" button on the left
"Check for Problems"---When the Scan is complete
FIX all selected promblems in RED

RESTART the computer to finish any cleaning process

Antispyware and AntiVirus software are 2 completely different programs
As I mentioned, I don't see you running any AV software
If you don't have your own to install
I highly recommend that you download and install one of the below
ALL have a free version
ONLY INSTALL ONE, more than one can cause conflicts and cause system instability
AVG 7 by Grisoft
OR
Avast Home Edition by ALWIL

Avira AntiVir Personal Edition Classic

After your new AV is installed and updated, run a full system scan and let it fix whatever it finds

Come back here and post a fresh hijackthis log
