« Reply #1 on: November 03, 2006, 10:13:15 AM »
Can you do me a favor please

Download and save Brute Force Uninstaller to the desktop
  • Right click the BFU folder on your desktop, and choose Extract All
  • Click "Next"
  • In the box to choose where to extract the files to, click "Browse"
  • Click on the + sign next to "My Computer"
  • Click on "Local Disk (C:) or whatever your primary drive is
  • Click "Make New Folder"
  • Type in BFU
  • Click "Next", and Uncheck the "Show Extracted Files" box and then click "Finish".
RIGHT-CLICK HERE and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download Alcan worm remover.
Save it then transfer to the
same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).

Go to Start > My Computer and navigate to the C:\BFU folder.
  • Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe
  • Next to the scriptline to execute field click the folder icon
    and select alcanshorty.bfu
  • Press Execute and let it do it's job. (You ought to see a progress bar if you did this correctly.)
  • Wait for the complete script execution box to pop up and press OK.
  • Press exit to terminate the BFU program.
Could you also
Download this file - Combofix.exe and save it too desktop
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Post the log from combofix please

Can I see a fresh hijackthis log please
Your first Hijackthis did not post properly, if you are purposely trying to change it's format
Please don't, thanks

Can you do the following
Do a fresh Scan and save logfile with Hijackthis
When the text file opens with the log in it
Select FORMAT>>Ensure Word Wrap is UNChecked

Then select EDIT>>SELECT ALL
EDIT>>COPY

Come back here and PASTE the new log in a new reply

Can you do the following for me please
REDownload Hijackthis from my signature below
SAVE it to your desktop

Double click on hijackthis_sfx.exe on desktop
Click the UNZIP button
"Hijackthis.exe" This will self extract to C:\Program Files\HijackThis
You can manually navigate to this folder by:
Go to START>> MyComputer>>Local disk C:>Program Files>
Open HijackThis folder

ONLY run hijackthis from this new location please
Can I see a fresh scan and save logfile from Hijackthis

Also, close hijackthis then reopen it
supply an uninstall list from Hijackthis
Open Hijackthis>>Open MISC TOOLS SECTION>>Open UNINSTALL MANAGER
Click the SAVE LIST... button
Save the list to your desktop then copy>>Paste back here the Whole contents

Sorry, I was in a bit of a rush last night, so I didn't get complete instructions posted
Can you do the following please
Go to START>>RUN>>type in services.msc
Hit OK

In the new window on the right hand side, double click on Boonty Games
In the startup type dropdown box, set to DISABLED
Apply and OK out of there

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - - (no file)
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {BC4FFE41-DE9F-46fa-B455-AAD49B9F9938} - (no file)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [csr] csrrs.exe
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot the computer

Back in Windows
# Download the FxGaobot.exe file from: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FxGaobot.exe
# Save the file to a convenient location, such as your downloads folder or the Windows Desktop (or removable media known to be uninfected, if possible).
# Close all the running programs before running the tool.
# If you are on a network or you have a full-time connection to the Internet, disconnect the computer from the network and the Internet.
#Double-click the FxGaobot.exe file to start the removal tool.
# Click Start to begin the process, and then allow the tool to run.

Note: If, when running the tool, you see a message that the tool was not able to remove one or more files, run the tool in Safe mode. Shut down the computer, turn off the power, and then wait 30 seconds. Restart the computer in Safe mode and run the tool again.

When that's done
Can you do the following
Download The Avenger.zip by Swandog46 to your Desktop.

    * Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
    * Extract avenger.exe to your desktop

Copy ALL the text contained in blue below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing the (Ctrl+C) on your keyboard,
=============================================================

Drivers to Unload:
BOONTY

Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinSvr.exe

Folders to delete:
C:\Program Files\Fichiers communs\BOONTY Shared

==========================================================================
Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop

    * Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
    * Now click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script"
    * Paste the text copied to clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
    * Click Done
    * Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
    * Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

Avenger should now Reboot your computer
In cases as yours, where the script uses "Drivers to unload"
Avenger will actually reboot your computer twice

Back in Windows
Can you post the following

1. Post a fresh hijackthis log
2. Can you let me know if FxGaobot.exe from Symantec's found and fixed anything
3. Post the log from Avenger, found here>>C:\Avenger.txt
Can I also have you post the following
Download the latest version of  SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the contents (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Can you Print these next instructions, or save them to a text file too desktop for reference

Then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in safe mode
* Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE:
  • Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
  • Click the "Delete Cookies" button
  • Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
  • When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content", click OK
* Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox (In case you also have Firefox installed):
  • Go to Tools > Options.
  • Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
  • Click the Clear button located to the right of each option (History, Cookies, Cache).
  • Click OK to close the Options window

Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing by clicking Clear All.
A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the information.
* Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin
  • Go to start > run and type:
cleanmgr and click ok.
  • Let it scan your system for files to remove.
  • Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
  • Press OK to remove them.
==Open the SmitfraudFix folder you extracted to desktop earlier
  • Double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
  • Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

  • You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

  • The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".
The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process.  A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process
I'll need to see these later, by default it is saved at C:\rapport.txt

Open Hijackthis>>Open Misc tools section
Open "Delete an NT service"
In the open field, copy>>Paste
Or type in exactly the following line below in bold

Boonty Games

Hit OK>>Ok any prompts

Allow the computer to reboot back to Normal windows

Post back the following please

1. Post a fresh hijackthis log
2. Post the report from Smitfraudfix>>C:\Rapport.txt

Ahh, good
I asked you to install Spybot 1.4, I wasn't sure when installing it would remove version 1.2?
Did it, or did it prompt you to uninstall it first?

Your version of Sun Java is out of date and should be updated for security reasons
==Download the latest version of  Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 9
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation Multi-language
Save the file to your Desktop.
Don't install it yet

Open your Windows control panel>>Start>>control Panel
Ensure you are in Classic view
Double click to open the Java Icon>>Under the General tab
Select "Delete Files"
Leave all 3 selections checked and click OK

Access your Add/remove programs via Control Panel
Remove J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
They should have the following icon next to it:
Select it and click Remove

Also, in add/remove programs
If you didn't intentionally install Viewpoint Media Player
Remove it also, it get's unintentionally installed at most times with software such as AIM

Reboot the computer
Back in Windows

Double click to install the latest version of Java
follow the prompts
After installation you can delete the installer from your desktop

Can I just check one more thing
Download and unzip to a folder of it's own on desktop
http://metallica.geekstogo.com/findlop.zip

Inside the folder find findlop.bat

Doubleclick it and it will create the file C:\findlop.txt
Find that file and copy the contents into your next post.

This happened since we updated Java? Hmm
Can you do the following
Open your Windows Control panel
Double click the Java Icon to open it
Click the UPDATE tab

UNCHECK>>"Check for updates automatically"
APPLY and select NEVER at the prompt

In IE>>Click on tools>>Internet options
Is Dial whenever a Network Connection not detected selected?
Try it if allowed
Reboot, any help?

I'm not sure how your website is set up, do you advertise your email addy?
Do you have a link?

Can I check a couple other steps on this computer please
I forgot about a couple files

Can you run Combofix again and post a fresh log please

Also, Download
F-Secure Blacklight(blbeta.exe)
and save to your desktop

    Double click to run blbeta.exe
    * Accept the user agreement.
    * Click Scan.
    * After the scan finishes, click on Next, then Exit.
Do not rename any files if found by blacklight, I need to see the log

BlackLight will create a log on your desktop with the name "fsbl-xxxxxxx.log".
Post the contents of this log too
