I m trying to install ie6.0 , i have ie5.5 now but everytime i try in install it it gives me this message It appears you have the correct setup files, but the installation failed. Try closing down all other programs and try running Setup again. If that still does not work, contact Microsoft Product Support Services for additional help.
I do as it asked but still gives me this message what can i do?

buy something that is free. Sounds like m$ for sure.

How do you know that all 104mbs are system files?? Could some of them be AOL??? spyware??? bloatware??? etc..

Your better off sticking with that download. I used the same cmd line and used the files i got from that to upgrade a win95 machine with it...worked fine. As far as i can see in the files you get from that command line...some of those dont look to be needed either.

i would never buy somethign that is free...never.

Download ie6setup.exe and save it to, for example, C:ie6FULL and then go to start | run and type this:

\"C:ie6FULLie6setup.exe\" /c:\"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:\"\"#E\"

this will give you a hidden screen which gives you the option to download all the cab files for all the OS\'s into a folder of your choice, dont do it in stages otherwise the setup.ini file will not work on all OS\'s (have a look at the one you have now, you will see what i mean)

There is a much easier way. Download the small setup file that you usually get. Go to install IE5.5 or 6. Choose Advanced. Then choose. DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL LATER. This is approximately a 33 megabyte download.

Just Download the setup file to your floppy and going to the system you want to install IE6 on and make sure the system is connect to the net. Then just put the floppy in and run the setup file and it will do the rest. But the system you install in on has to be able to access the net to geyt the rest of the files.

Ignore the post that says to go into advanced options and chose download later. Windows 2000 and XP won\'t have this option available, only win9x does. Just follow the post with the command and it\'ll work. I don\'t see why there\'s so many posts on such an easy topic.
