Monitor

Here's the problem.

Each time i turn on the computer, then turn on the monitor i get this strange "Crackling and zap-zap-zap sound coming from within the monitor.

After it starts up and comes to full brightness, i get these ocassional "Blank outs", where the monitor goes very dark, then brightens up again after a few seconds. This has been happening now for the past month or so. Is it dying?

This is not a LCD monitor, just a Sony tube one. I've tried to figure it out on my own, but i don't think its static discharge...  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\'<_<\' />

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi  Peter1,

It sounds to me the monitor has hi-tension leakage due to too much dust and damp environment. If you keep your environment dry, it may help to reduce the "cracking" noise. However, for the long term solution, you shall ask a tech guy to service it for you or ask for a warranty repair if the monitor still under warranty. If you think the service too $$, I'll suggest to look for a new monitor. http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />  After all, the new set is under warranty and likely is free for service. Hope this help.  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />
