Laptop runs off batteries, not sensing AC adapter
« on: December 18, 2006, 09:29:00 PM »
I've got a Toshiba Satellite A75-206.  It runs off it's battery whether it's plugged in or not so the only way to use it is to let the battery charge up while the system is off, and then, once it's charged up (and you can tell by looking at the lights on the front which do work!) you can turn it back on and use it for a little while.  Since the battery is old, it doesn't hold a charge like it used to either so the window for using the system is small.

I just installed Toshiba's latest Power Management software application hoping it might solve things but it did not.

It's weird.  You can tell from the lights on the front of the system that it is plugged in but the little power icon in the tool tray will still show that it's running on batteries.  Every once and a while the power icon will show that it is running on A/C but it doesn't stay that way - even though it should - and it immediately starts running down the battery.  Even though it's plugged in the whole time.

Are there any easy fixes for this?

I had not seen it.  Thank you very much.  It's directly applicable to the problem this laptop has.

You're a terrific resource.  I don't know how you keep up with all this stuff!

Thanks again,
