Computer problems
« on: March 18, 2007, 03:03:21 PM »
Well, after I start the computer the mouse kicks all around the screen randomly without me even touching it.  Then it often freezes.  Not really sure what the problem is.  Hopefully you can figure it out.

Not like that though.  The whole computer freezes, not just the mouse.

Can you do the following please

Download and Install Spybot 1.4 from
HERE

After installation--Click the UPDATE button on the left
SEARCH FOR UPDATES on the right
Check, and then download all updates
Ensure all updates are successful, a GREEN check will indicate this
If you have an error updating, search for updates again and retry the download until all updates are successfully installed
After update is complete can you exit it for now, we will need it later

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {00A6FAF6-072E-44cf-8957-5838F569A31D} - C:\PROGRAM FILES\MYWEBSEARCH\SRCHASTT\2.BIN\MWSSRCAS.DLL

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MyWebSearch Email Plugin] C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\BAR\2.BIN\MWSOEMON.EXE
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MyWebSearch Email Plugin] C:\PROGRA~1\MYWEBS~1\BAR\2.BIN\MWSOEMON.EXE
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://edits.mywebsearch.com/toolbaredits/...?p=ZJxdm128YYUS

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Access your add/remove programs via control panel
Uninstall the following items
My Web Search (Zwinky)
Viewpoint Media Player

Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Select YES at the prompt to run in diagnostic mode
In safe mode
Find and delete the following folder
C:\PROGRAM FILES\COMMON FILES\{382D1DDB-0000-1033--0001} <-this folder

Remain in safe mode
Open Spybot 1.4
Click the "Search & Destroy" button on the left
"Check for Problems"---When the Scan is complete
FIX all selected promblems in RED

Exit Spybot and then reboot the computer back to Normal windows
Back in Windows
You have no Anti-Virus software installed
If you don't have your own to install, I highly recommend that you download and install one of these free ones
ONLY install one, more than one can/will cause conflicts with each other

AVG 7 by Grisoft
OR
Avast Home Edition by ALWIL
OR
Avira AntiVir Personal Edition Classic
OR
Active Virus Shield
Powered by Kaspersky's>"UNCheck Security toolbar during install"

After your new AV is installed, ensure it is updated and run a complete system scan
Let it clean whatever it finds, reboot the computer afterwards

Back in Windows

Run hijackthis again and post a fresh log, let me know how things are running please

The log looks clean, what model mouse and keyboard you using?

Are your video drivers right up to date?
Just a hunch it may be a cause of some problems

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?
