The Tainted-Ones
“Character - the willingness to accept responsibility or one's own life - is the source from which self respect springs.†This Japanese proverb illustrates the reasons why suck-ups, brownnosers, or whatever you want to call them should stop their behavior. I experimented with sucking up a bit because I thought it would help, however, I can tell you that it is no way to live. People everywhere use this evil tactic to get ahead, but they do not realize that by getting a better grade or by moving up in the business world, they are harming the innocent victims who honestly take the responsibility of their own lives. Those who work hard are in a state of confusion and do not know what to do. This uncertainty will cause disaster. The destruction will victimize ones lifetime forever. People everywhere who suck-up should not only stop their annoying actions, but they should find a more respectable way to find the attention they strive for.
There are no achievements that can be proudly made if you are a suck up. They might think he or she is high and mighty, but by their actions they are causing negative effects for everyone around them, their family, friends, and themselves. Think about school, a nice place where everything is perfect. You can hear the birds chirping, the water running, and the kids screaming on the playground. Go into the classroom, however, and you see how the tainted-ones, better known as the suck-ups, are destroying this institution from the inside out. They lie, cheat, and harm just to receive the better grade on the assignment. They lie causing you to be jealous. The cheating makes you angry because you know they do not deserve the special treatment. Jealousy is now your excuse to do poorly. Simply put you take the easy path and give up along with millions of others.
Instead of using the suck-up method, you should try different approaches to obstacles or challenges you face. For example, if you need to score an A or higher on the upcoming paper, but in your mind you know that you will flunk, and then use these alternatives. You can always try asking for help, it is a great way to become more independent and secure about your standing in the academic world. Another alternative is to study using resources; whether they are online or handwritten these will always keep you on track if utilizing them correctly. Another example would be if a new position were available at work. Instead of being the suck-up you can research ways to be more presentable in order for the interviewers to desire you more than the rest. You can also improve your working habits making it easier for the job. Inside it feels good to be known as the hard worker instead of the lazy suck-up, but in reality people like to be the average couch potato and procrastinate so that they must resort to brownnosing. It is true that it might be an easy way out, but also very dangerous including the risks of losing friends, obtaining a bad name, and becoming an enemy of the teacher, when they are there to teach instead of favor.
You can see many people become successful without sinking to the level which some have sunk. When you brownnose it is like begging for attention, while the others around you are experiencing hands on how it feels to accept challenges for what they are, chances to overcome. All I am saying is work hard to achieve your complete potential. Sucking up will not give the self-respect you are looking for. If you never face responsibility, you will never have character.
Neways.. presenting it in front of the class tomorrow... 10 hours from now... Hoping for an A on the presentation... B at least on the written piece ^...
