Microsoft C++ runtime error while using soulseek

Hi. Sorry to bother you but I found this link while trying to google a way to fix this error..

where this person was getting the same error I was. I am not that much of a computer expert but I try to find ways to fix this stuff on my own and I could not figure it out. I came across this forum and found this but I've never really used the hijack this program so I'm scared to do anything with it. And I attempted to download the adware program  suggested but i cant because I have Norton and it makes you uninstall that to install the suggested program and I paid a lot for that and I dont want to uninstall it. I was wondering if you'd still be able to help me using Norton instead. I'm worried I wont be able to use the search function on my soulseek anymore and I'm not sure how to fix it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling soulseek to no avail. I have no idea what a C++ runtime error is. Thank you so much if you can help me. I'd really really appreciate it.

Can you do the followng for me please
Download [color=\"blue\"]VundoFix.exe[/color]
to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  
• Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  
• Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files,  click YES
  
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
• When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above
instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button."

Post the report from Vundofix>>C:\Vundofix.txt

Also, post the following
Post a fresh hijackthis log

Also, close hijackthis and then reopen it
Open MISC TOOLS SECTION>>Open UNINSTALL MANAGER
Click the SAVE LIST... button
Save the list to your desktop then copy>>Paste back here the Whole contents

Was it AVG Anti-Spyware OR AVG Anti-Virus software??

I ran the VundoFix.exe program and it did not find any errors so it did not ask me to reboot. I'm not sure what else I should do since that did not find anything.

The program I tried downloading and couldnt because it would make me uninstall norton was  AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5

I suggest that you remove older versions of Java
Also, My Way Search Assistant was being preinstalled on some dell systems and is NOT needed
Or it also gets installed unknowingly at times

Also, Viewpoint Media Player usually gets installed unknowingly at not needed
Usually when you install AOL messenger as eg...

Do the following
Close down ALL browser windows
Access add/remove programs via Control panel

Remove(Uninstall) all the following
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 4
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03

Afterwards
Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Reboot the computer

Back in Windows
Download this file - Combofix.exe and save it ONLY to your desktop
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall
Post the log from combofix please along with a fresh hijackthis log

NOTE: Do you know what prompt you got when trying to install AVG Anti-spyware

i have run everything you suggested including the AVG Anti-spyware (i finally got it to work without interrupting norton). and I'm still getting the same problem. I would opt to do the following
First, create a fresh System Restore point
Go to START>>All Programs>>Accessories>>System Tools>>System Restore
Select "Create a New Restore Point" and click Next
Give the restore point a name
Then click Next

When it's done, exit out of there

Navigate to the following file
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\tcpip.sys
Right click on it and select COPY

Navigate to the C:\ folder and paste a copy of it there for safe keeping

I believe this tool makes a backup in the Drivers folder, but we have our own also

Download the Patcher from the download site
and save and unzip it to it's own folder on the desktop
Double click on it and follow the prompts to change settings to 50

Exit the tool when done and reboot the computer
Since this file is protected by Windows, you may get a prompt to use your XP cd to replace the file, just cancel it if you do
See if it solves your problems
