Hey all,

Does anyone know of a simple dictionary application that will just let me type in a word and it will give me the meaning/pronounciation/spelling/etc. I know there are a bunch of site\'s that do this, but i need an application so i can use it offline.

thanks

Kyle

I found  a dictionary program on a CD at Wal-Mart for $9.99
It is the American Heritage Talking Dictionary. I loaded it on my computer and WOW, it works great. I use it all the time.

I believe Princeton Hall sells one. I know there out there. I have had a few in the past. None recent...atleast not in the last 4 years. But i figure you there out there. I would even think Webster\'s would sell one. These would be pretty big however...probably around 2gigs or so since they would have picture\'s and other stuff aswell i imagine. One i did have was 4 cd\'s but it also had a Thesarus in it. I\'ll try to ask around on who made that. Ive seen them on various site\'s...just not recently at all.

Search for like Princeton Hall, Webster\'s, Roget\'s, etc....common dictionary maker\'s.

Strange thing is that i would believe these dictionaires would differ depending on what country you live in. Like in the USA the word color :-) is spelled C O L O R...when the rest of the world spells it C O L O U R. Many words are like this too...so search in your country for one...or maybe even a multilingual dictionary (now that would be HUGE)

10usd...are you serious!?!?!? That\'s a unbelievable deal. Im really tempted to drive there and get one now.

You say Talking Dictionary??? Now you say it\'s great..and i TOTALLY believe you...but how does the \"Talking\" fit in to the program? Does it just speak the work with the correct pronouciation or does it talk to you through the whole definition aswell?? Now it doesnt talk to you for like all the nonsense stuff too does it? Basically can you control what it speaks and doesnt?

Im seriously about to get one. Does it say how many words it has in it?

10usd...now that is in everyone\'s price range. Thanks for the post. I was hoping someone would post a sure shot on this...because i would like one aswell. Thanks for the post.
