Philips CDRW1610 does not work in XP
« on: August 19, 2002, 06:26:12 AM »
I have a Philips CDRW1610A and it won\'t work in Win XP.
It shows up in Explorer, but won\'t show the contents of any CDs, there is no problem with my drive as I\'ve gone back to Win 2000 and it works fine.

I had a similar problem with it in Win 98.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

There is a CD-Burner Update from XP that may fix this problem.  Just run Windows Update and look for the patch.
if at first you dont succeed, call it version 1.0

A.  Remove any Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from
the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
You know better first export the key , so you can put it back if it doesn\'t help .

Did you use the Windows XP upgrade? Cause when I do upgrades from prior operating systems to XP on peoples computers, some of the hardware doesnt work. Mainly because it has the same drivers as before. Try installing the driver from microsoft update, or the products website should have an XP driver.
