WARNING!!!!! SP3 IS RIGGED!!!!

WARNING!!!!!!   its been about a week or so since i installed (for like the 1000th time) W2KPro  (the 3in1 disk that everyone loves so much) with SP3 integrated, and after reboot today i noticed a small message appear on the lower right corner of the desktop.  Ths message stated that this was build 2195 and that it was for testing purposes only
I never had this show up b4 SP3 integration.  Just a few days ago i installed Windows Media PLayer 9.  Could that have done something??  I suspect its prolly some code in SP3.  Anyone else have this issue?

also, (I forgot to mention b4), does anyone know how to remove anything thats put onto the desktop (like text) from the registry. I\'m assuming that this code is in the registry somewhere. I could be wrong.

I can\'t comment on the \"testing purposes\" message but any 2000 machine will say it\'s build 2195 coz it is!
You could try switching off the \'Show Windows Version on desktop\' option.

its actually part of the code from the beta version of WMP9. if you look hard enough, perhaps the same place you found the beta, you\'ll find a patch to remove the desktop trash thats invaded your workspace!

you\'re right to be concerned about SP3, although it isn\'t \"rigged\" , it is still quite buggy, and if i were you, i\'d stick with SP2.

It sure is WMP9 , and not  w2k sp3 .
On Sep the 4th there\'s an official beta of wmp9 coming out  .There is also a way to get this off your desktop , there must even be a *. bat file on the web .

yeh i aswell. ive been running since the first day it came out and no problems or crazy text msg\'s floating around. I can say though im not going to bother to slipstream this in just yet. I only need 4 update\'s and for sure don\'t need wmp9 at all...total junk.

It does slipstream in like autoupdate, messenger and zhit
i just need carry the update\'s with some software i need on the disc with it. I don\'t need no bloated stuff i cannot even use on my personal computer.

Nothing wrong with SP3, nothing at all. Stop panicking people with Warnings!!!!  Maybe you should reboot between upgrading things.. Did you reboot after the update of sp3 or did you install win media player 9 beta first?

The \"For testing purposes only\" is from the win media player 9 beta install NOT SP3.  There is a hack available to remove it.  Have a look see on the net or try warp2search.net.

Following the SP3 installation, everytime I boot the HD, it run chkdsk on H;I;J partition.  This is really annoying.  Any help with a solution to this problem?

Actually wmp 9 has been released as a public beta and I must say it is a pleasant surprise. It loads almost as fast as winamp 2.xx and is surprisingly stable.

wmp9 supports HEAVY DRM...so next update to that wmp9 (if not NOW!!!) you won\'t be able to encode in wmp9 then play it back on somebody else\'s computer.

wmp9 is a joke. i guess there is no encoder\'s in this joint or you would how much of junk it is. It\'s all over Hollywood\'s jock so much it\'s like scab\'s.

sorry i just don\'t support DRM...im fair use all the way. even if it wasnt DRM i still think the best wmp codec was divX3.11...and that wasn\'t even the o.g. window\'s codec.
(those who tell you it\'s good for streaming are so far into commercial software they don\'t know the whole field...because it\'s not as good as some of the underdeveloped codec\'s like Xvid for streaming support atleast)

get off the wmp9 band wangon. you do know that bill gate\'s, ll cool j and james cameron debuted it...or didnt\' you??? It\'s HoLLyWooD all the way baby.

I had SP 2 when it first was released turn my win2k into a demo version good for 30 days! it too had white printing on the lower right corner of the desktop, It did it once and hasn\'t done it since but the time it did certainlt got my attenion! Winbloz tries to do some underhanded thngs and this is just an example.  I just did sp3 slip disking and installed great, seems to be a tiny bit snappier than before, but beware of winhoes sneaky autoupdate! Its turned on along with the inviting open garage door deal they have to help hackers access your pc! Fekkin MS gotta keep a watchful eye on em....
