Go back to Device manager
If it's your CD|DVD has the ! beside it
Right click on it and uninstall it

Reboot afterwards, let windows find and reinstall it
See if that helps

Let's try the following
Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad)
Hit OK
Copy the contents of the CODE box, not including the word "code"
Paste it to the empty Notepad file
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as Export.bat

Code: [Select]
regedit /e Export.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}"Double click on Export.bat, a text file called Export.txt
should produce on your desktop
Copy>>paste back here the contents of Export.txt please

Let's try the following
For now, can you Right click on Export.txt and rename it too Export2.txt
Leave it on your desktop, do not delete Export2.txt yet

Open Notepad (START>>>RUN>>>type in notepad)
Hit OK
Copy the contents of the CODE box, not including the word "code"
Paste it to the empty Notepad file
In Notepad click FILE>>SAVE AS
IMPORTANT>>>Change the Save as Type to All Files.
Name the file as fix.reg

Save this file on the desktop
Ensure to copy from REGEDIT4 and down in the code box

Code: [Select]
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]
"UpperFilters"=-
"LowerFilters"=-
"LowerFilters_1"=-

We'll need this in a bit

Go back to Device Manager and Uninstall your CD/DVD drive again if allowable
DO NOT reboot the computer yet

Instead, double click on fix.reg and allow to add/merge to the registry at the prompt

Reboot the computer

Back in Windows, the CD drive should be found and reinstalled
afterwards, Double click to open MyComputer
Is your drive recognized?

Is E: the drive letter of your CD\DVD drive?

Can you do the following, I just want a double check
Download this file - Combofix.exe and save it ONLY to your desktop, we will need it in a bit
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
Post this log please >> C:\Combofix.txt

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Is E: the drive letter of your CD\DVD drive?

I need to know the following
You have D, E drive letter assignments

What drives are they related to??

If you plug in your Usb flash drive, that appears to be F: drive
Is that correct

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Can you do the following for me please
Download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs and save it to your desktop:

* Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it.
* Insert your USB flashdrive when prompted, or any other external drive
* Click OK after the flashdrive is plugged in
* Your desktop will vanish for a while, and then reappear. This is normal.
* Wait until the program has finished scanning, then please exit the program

Shut down the computer
Remove your USB drive

Start back up
Back in Windows
download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS)
Save it to the Desktop:
http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/Deckard/dss.exe

Close all other windows before proceeding.
Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.

When finished, DSS opens two Notepad files: main.txt and extra.txt
Use Save As to save both Notepad files to your Desktop and post them in your next reply.
Note: A copy of these files is also usually found in C:\Deckard\System Scanner\
