Disable Win2k Serial key in sysprep answer file
« on: September 16, 2002, 08:00:58 PM »
I was wondering if anyone knows how to disable the windows 2000 serial check when using sysprep. I like the fact that i can avoid entering a key when installing windows, however I usually use Ghost images to setup my servers. I create a perfect install then i run Sysprep, then image the server. Now when i put that image on the new servers, it regenerates all the SIDs and allows me to give the machine a name etc..... but it also wants a key. I want to avoid this without putting a key into the answer file.  Any ideas.

im pretty sure you can still use the WINNT.SIF with sysprep.

if you want to make sure it prompt\'s you choose a name for a install dir make the line in the winnt.sif file that is related to the installpath to Manual ...i can\'t remember the real line for it but you will see it. Just put in Manual and it will ask for that name to install.

this however does NOT work in winxp
