Computer Not Functioning Correctly

[font=\"Arial\"]Issue: Computer has been running very slowly for the past 4 weeks. Startup  is slow, cannot click on anything on the desktop for about 2 minutes after power  up. Running on high speed internet connection, web pages take up to a minute to  load completely and even then, may take longer if I need to scroll down past the  fold. One other weird issue - when I click on Word, Windows Installer  immediately starts up and then prompts me for the MS. CD even though it has been  working properly in the past. If I click cancel install, Word then opens with no  issues.

Sometimes while on the internet, about:blank will pop up in the  address bar but then immediately turns to the page I am accessing. I followed  some instructions from Jack1 on the about:blank help  topic

Try doing these things (all programs are free just google and download)

First download, install, update , and run Spybot Search and Destroy

Then download, install, update, and run (choose full system scan) Adaware 2007


Also it would be a good idea to run CCleaner just install it go to cleaner button then cheackmark all boxes in both tabs and click run cleaner you can get it from here


Once all that is done. Just to make sure it does not happen again install, update and click enable all protection with SpywareBlaster (update once a month or pay $9 for auto updates)


To make sure you do not have any trojans/viruses download and run Kaspersky Internet Security

To go one step further you can open CCleaner and go to the tools button then to the startup button then google all the .exe files listed and if the description you get says it is not usefull then delete it
