Littlefly and I have been talking through MSN and PM's about the elite structure, and we both have the same general idea, with slightly varying ideas about other things, but this is how I think it should be done so far:
-At the beginning of the first month, a poll is made with all the elites on it and one with the mods on it
-The two with the most votes are put in a group that get to decide on the next elites.
-the two mods with the most votes would stay in the group forever
-One person would be randomly picked from the list of elite each month
-Also at the beginning of each month, a list would be made and anyone (I would say 2 elite recs still, or just if one person thinks someone should be an elite, either way) an elite thinks should become an elite.
-At the end of the month, the 3 people voted into the group, will be PMed, if one doesn't answer within one day, then the person with the third most votes (or another random person depending on who doesn't respond) becomes a selecting person.
-The group of 5 talk through PM's, MSN or other (non posting) ways, for 3 days, discussing which person on the list of possible elites, should become elite.
-At the end of 3 days, if they have decided that person becomes elite. If they haven't decided, or decide against making someone elite, there will be no new elite added.

Ok this next part is just an add-on of the one week poll and still needs some work:
-At the end of one week there will be a poll, whether to keep the elite or not.
-Each member must explain their reason for voting or it will be removed.
-The only reason's for voting must be based on the member's activity on the forums in the last week. So if it is a personal problem it shouldn't affect voting.
-If they say something like "so-and-so has flamed and abused his trust all week" they would need to link to (a) thread(s) displaying this as proof.

I think this is working out to be a pretty strong idea so far, give me some feedback.

I say we have 3 guys that do the voting every month. 2 of the guys that do the voting are voted into doing it by all of the elites once a month. So if one month you didnt like the guys voting decistions you can vote him out of the group of 3 and a new elite will be voted into it. Maybe both of the guys will be voted out of the group of 3 and 2 new elites with the most votes will be put in the group of 3 for that month. Maybe both guys will do good and everyone will like their decisions and both will stay in the group of 3 for another month. To find the 3rd guy we will just go down the list of elites every month and put a new elite in the group of 3 every month. So atleast everyone will have a tearn and 2 of them are voted into doing it by all the elites.

If there was 5 guys doing it, how the hell would be get them all on msn at one time, also they can debate over pm's but still. How the hell are 5 people post to decide over one guy becoming elite from a list of like 4 that are running for elite just over pm's.. it would be insanly hard to finaly pick one person. Also 5 is alot. I think 3 is perfect because 2 of them are voted into it by all of the elites and one is put in the group of 3 every month and taken out at the end of the month and another elite is put in from the list of all the elites. Still i think 5 guys is way overboard on trying to decide who becomes elite and to top it off, they will have to debate about it over pm's.. because me and Allanon know that all 5 cant get on msn at the same time.

SO EVERYONE, give me and Allanon your insight on this. Which one you like better.

i like Allanons idea and littlefly's idea....but it wont really affect me till i win my one week poll so im going to wait to tell you my opinion.

Allanon's idea will cause massive flame and yeah....littlefly's idea is a little more organized

How would my idea create massive flame exactly? I would just add 2 mods into littlefly's group to act as kind of a control, otherwise we have basically the same idea.

but getting all 5 people to agree with one person out of lets say 4 is going to be hard when they have to talk over pms...

Also 5 people will cause more conflics, 3 people that were voted by the elites to decide is more organized and easier. Well 2 people are voted into it and 1 is chosen from the list of elites so everyone has a chance.

i like the idea ecxept josetann may get fed up of adding and removing mods and if this does go ahead i dont think 1 elite can be in this group for more then 2 weeks in a row

I think both ideas are in the right path and I think doing this is a godly idea but now we are just fine tuning the idea that we have. Either way works but just trying to make this as fun and anti - complocated as posable but the main idea works perfect.

Also Bloodogre, were you talking about the 5 person idea? having the 2 mods be in the group forever?

It just solves all the arguing and fighting and "i voted no because i dont like him" problems. Even if we didnt have any problems I think this idea is even better than any other way of voting someone in as elite.

Bloodogre, nobody would be changing mods around in either idea. I can see how a 3 person group could work better, and it would be easier for them to come to a decision that way but everything else in my idea I like so far, I am trying to think of another way that one week polls can be dealt with at this point though.

About the 1 week thing to decide if a new elite stays or goes. I think if someone notices something bad about that elite over that 1 week period then he/she should pm the 3 people with what he noticed and if its scamming then show proof

i think you should just throw away the only a few people get to vote thing and just have it so people have to give their reasons to vote yes or no and if their reasons are stupid then their vote is not counted (even if they change their vote).

i have some more ideas but i have to collect them first so ill probly post them later... but for now im just gonna say no letting everyone vote is a bad idea...

Sounds pretty kool, a perfect example of why this would be good would be a good thing is MadHatter's poll he PM'ed everybody, even if they hadn't been on in years.

Also we see allot of people voting because they like or dislike a person, people will now say I voted no on MadHatter's poll because I hate him, no I didn't I based my vote on 3 things:

1: Is he/she trusted by members,

2: Is he/she active on the forums,

3: Is he/she a spammer, does he talk sense and would he show the Elites in a bad light,

I use these three things for making my decisions about everyone's poll but I doubt everyone else does it and we'd have to make sure the 3 people did that, or something similar, maybe if the other two elites thought that one of them was making decisions purely on what he thought personally, for example if I voted no on MadHatter's poll purely because I thought he was a dumbass/flamer/spammer,

Also I think we should incorporate a user voting system maybe a few people on the list (1-2?) could be on because of being trusted by Users, user with say.. 50+ posts, 3 months plus? basically other eligible would-be elites? and they have to post there reasons of why they voted, if they don't their votes will be deleted.

I think I covered everything I think needs changing but just to help everyone that didn't understand what I just said above 100% here's a list:

Four days before the end of every month (26th (if it's a 30 day month), 27th (if it's a 31 day month) or the 24th (if it's February)) a topic would be made asking the eligible would-be Elites who they recommend, they can only recommend 2, people that get recommended 4 times(+) would be added to a list we would later use in a poll,

At the beginning of every month two polls should be made:

1. a poll for Elites to vote for three Elites they think would make the BEST decision, again not just personally feelings, on who should be become the next elites for that month, (This poll lasts 4 days)

2. a poll would be made with all the eligible would be elites who got 4 or more recommends in the topic mentioned above for all would-be elites to vote on, the 2 with most votes would be put on the list, (This poll lasts 4 days)

At the same time the current Elites would decide who would go on the list that month, 2 recommendations + for one member means they'd go on the list,

On the 4/5th the 3 Elites would be chosen, and the list finished.

Then the Elites that had been picked to vote the new Elites in for that month would start to do so, the amount of people made Elite would not be limited.

On the 14th if the 3 Elites still haven't made up their mind then the Elites that came 4th and 5th in the poll would join the debate.

If however on the 14th the Elites are in agreement then whoever they all agree on will be made Elite.

After one week (from when/if the Elite(s) was voted in) then a poll will be made in which will decided whether or not the Elite(s) would stay Elites, they would have to lose their poll by two for them to be de-elited (2-4 against them for example would get them de-elited) this will not be like the current one week poll, instead people will vote on if they think the new Elite(s) are active enough or if they haven't conducted themselves in the proper way (example, flaming members for no justified reason), if the voter did not give a reason then the vote would be removed, if the reason given was because of flaming then a thread link must be posted, otherwise again the vote would be deleted.

uhh...wont work

how would you pick these "would-be" elites?

if you made the poll in the regular forums, EVERYONE would vote...which means you would have to let them in the elites section...which means the lites would vote...or you would have to make them an entire new group and forum...meaning they would look trusted...and josetann wouldnt want to do that...

OR any member can recommend ( they can only recommend a would-be elite and they can only recommend 1) and all the people with 5 plus recommendations gets a collective poll where the Elites single out 2 to add to the list.

this entire thing is stupid, if you want to have peoples personal feelings/experiences with the elite in question have less influence you dont make it so less people can vote, there is no logic in that what so ever.

If you have less people vote then the personal feelings/experiences that those 3 or 5 voters have will just influence it even more, because believe it or not everyone here, unless you have no previous interaction with the person, are basing their votes on their personal feelings/experiences with them. It doesn't just happen in no votes, it mostly happens in yes votes, and if you want each individuals feelings/experiences to effect the vote less you need more people to vote, not less.

If you need change then you dont change who votes, you just change the way they vote.

Reazee, it will work if we trust in the Elites, and as we're asking everyone else on the forum to trust every single on of them, why don't we? I believe they will make the right decision, doubtless they will find it hard but have a look above at my three criteria, if all 3 of them follow those, or something close to those, then it'll be fair and will work very well.

i dont want my vote to count every 12 months.............

i want my vote to count every time there is a poll...

i say from now on: we make a set time, instead of having polls made randomly...say the first week of every month...we make a poll for the people we decide should run for elite

during the entire previous month, we make a thread saying "September's Recommendations" or something, and if 2-3 people recommend the same guy in that thread...they get a poll at the beginning of the next month...

then we control the spam/revenge votes...like reazee tried to do with kirk hammet...FORCE every1 to post when they vote, with a valid reason, and if th posts and votes dont add up, delete the extra votes that aren't accounted for...(the reason it didnt work is because you guys didnt even try...if you actually tried with the idea, you mods could easily determine if the votes/polls are revengeful/spiteful or if they are true votes)...make them post evidence if they vote no...like link to a thread where they flamed or spammed or something.

then at the beginning of september (or whatever month), we take the thread that has the elite's that were recommended on the September Recommendations thread...and make them polls that last one week, ending on the 7th every month.

TADA, they get elite or they dont...and every one who voted had a real reason...

Allanon's point is you can't get 18 people to agree (it's actually 20 now) on making one person elite, so have just 3 people is his idea, 3 people picked by all the elites.
