Get a HDD enclosure that will allow you to have your files via usb 2.0 :-) www.frys.com, www.newegg.com you should be able to find a cheap one.

You take your case cover off. Then find you first HDD and take out the shell its in should have a open space (another drive), Screw in the HDD into the space. Look on the unit for a little whit thing with gold prongs surrounding it that is the jumper change it to S (slave). Aka second drive that you can access in my computer. Then if you have not connect cables exactly like what you first hard drive looked like.

It's quite a complicated process if you really want two hard drives you can basically setup an external HDD btw I just realised if you're talking about desktops than there will be plenty of guides online even video guides that would show you the proper way to do it.

if your doing this on a desktop...then you have plenty of room on your desk...just get an external, theyre usually bigger...and are way easier to install

I have 320gb external but I use it on my laptop. Externals are much easier.

You can run both with a little work.
First, you will have to see if the cable to the 40gig drive has a second connector available. If not, then you will have to replace it with one that does.
Second, you will have to see if you can physically mount the second drive in the case within reach of the second connector on the HD cable. Also you will have to find an available power connector for the second HD.
Third, configure the 40gig drive as master using the jumper next to the data connector on the HD.
Fourth, configure the second drive as slave using it's jumper.
Fifth, connect the power, the second data connector to the second HD.
Boot the PC.

Good luck!
