Hi...
I have a problem with my internet connection.
In the last few days I had to go into my connections page in the PC to start up internet. Before I used to click on a sort of pop up, that automatically appeared when browsing Explorer...

Can you do the following
I would like you to scan a file
First off:
Set Windows To Show Hidden Files and Folders
    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Uncheck the Hide Extensions for known file types
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.


Go to the following link
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
Browse to the following filename

C:\DOCUME~1\Giorgia\DOCUME~1\FILERI~1\SINGLE~1.EXE

Please understand that when you browser to the file,
the folder and file name won't look exactly like the above
as example it will look as the following
C:\Documents and Settings\Giorgia\DOCUME~1\FILERI~1\SINGLE~1.EXE

Then click the Send File button, wait for the scan to finish
Post back the results of the scan please

As regards the file single.exe, I think it is a download that I made a few days ago, a sort of tycoon game, free on line...

I haven't found the file you told me, in the position you told me. But I found it in the "downloads" folder. To be precise I found two file of single.exe. But I remember I unistalled alla the tycoon games I had a few days ago...
The scan of this file doesn't stop...Seems to be everending!

The file gets scanned by mulitple scanners, should take about 5 minutes or so when it starts to scan
Give it time to finish if you didn't

Also, can you do the following
supply an uninstall list from Hijackthis
Open Hijackthis>>Open MISC TOOLS SECTION>>Open UNINSTALL MANAGER
Click the SAVE LIST... button
Save the list to your desktop then copy>>Paste back here the Whole contents

I didn't complete the scan on the file you told me. I found out more than one file "single.exe". But as soon as I uninstalled the game, everyone of these files disappeared!

Your Java is out of date, it's best if you update to the latest version
Malware can use older versions to infect your system
  • Download the latest version of  Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u2.
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u2, The Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement[/i]".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language  and save it to your desktop (13.90 MB).
DON'T install it yet

Close all browser windows, including this one
# Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
# Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name
# Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
# Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Examples of older versions:
Java SE Runtime Environment 5 Update 6
Java SE Runtime Environment 5 Update 11

Afterwards, reboot your computer
Back in Windows, create a connection to the Internet

Then run the installer on desktop to install the latest version of Java

Can I see a fresh hijackthis log please

Also, for auto dial on ADSL
Can you check your connection
In Internet Explorer, click on TOOLS>>Internet Options>>Connections tab
Under Dial up settings select your account
Ensure that "Dial whenever a network connection is not present" is selected
Apply and ok out of there
