Need help with SP1 and boot logo
« on: October 01, 2002, 07:26:10 AM »
Hi guys and gals,

I really need some help here. I just slipstreamed SP1 into the Windows XP CD but it removed all the custom logo\'s/branding I had done to the startup screen. No matter what I do it just won\'t work (althought it did with original version of WinXP). Here are the steps to what I\'ve done:

After slipstreaming SP1 I changed ntoskrnl.exe and ntkrnlmp.exe in the i386 directory with Resource Hacker then used the makecab command to compress the files.

I then changed ntoskrnl.exe, ntkrnlmp.exe, ntkrnlpa.exe and ntkrpamp.exe in driver.cab file. Once I was done I used Cabinet Manager to repackage the cab with a level 19 compression (I also tried level 21).

Once I was done doing the above I burned my CD and tried to install it. First thing that\'s weird is there is no custom logo and the system freezes right there and then. These steps would work on the first release of XP. If I\'m forgetting anything or if anyone has some clues, please let me know! Thanks,

Primus
