Nero 7 and Vista
« on: September 14, 2007, 11:48:11 AM »
Please help - I made the mistake of purchasing a laptop running vista ultimate edition and trying to install Nero 7 essentials on it. The installer stopped working saying the version I was trying to install was not compatible with vista, suggested I look on ahead website for a solution and surprise surprise, no solution forthcoming. Windows then closed the installer. It appears that the installer didn't exit completly as when I now go into add/remove programmes nero essentials is listed, but wont unistall (error message saying installer needs to exit and then a dll error). Went for the fall back position of running ccleaner and now essenatials doesn't show in its add remove but does in windows add/remove still. Bought Nero 7 premium reloaded to try and use that to uninstall (this was suggested by a friend) but that gets stuck as well. I am really stuck as to possible solutions - have run the nero unistaller as well but still no joy. Can't unistall in safe mode. Although computer only 2 weeks old dont want to do a clean install as I am now 12000 miles from home and didn't think to bring install dvd with me.
Having beta tested vista previously I must say I am surprised this problem occured as I am sure that I had a different version of Nero 7 essential installed on that computer without any issues.
