Is it possible to insert my modifed files into a slipstream cd and have it install those?
What do you have to do to the files to get them compressed correctly?

If it is a protected or signed file no, unless you can disabled SFC. Otherwise yes. You can use Compress.exe from the resource kit but i think makecab.exe \"filename\" works as well.

So I guess I cant, Thanks. I guess I will have to make a ghost type backup.

Thanks for your help.

too lazy to log in.
in general, you cannot modify files and then slipstream them, but it depends on the file.
if you\'re talking about .INF files, however, this *can* be done, and after installation, SIGVERIF.EXE reports the files as having been digitally signed(!)
i used this in order to remove internet explorer, but you can simply check out the process in order to see what i\'m referring to.
the page below details how to modify files and slipstream them
