Want more Runescape forums?
« on: November 14, 2007, 10:27:15 PM »
I had a request to expand the for sale section into multiple forums.  Since it has over half of the total posts for the forum, it deserves to be split up some if you think it needs it.  Since JB Lee feels the need to fix this place, I'll let him move all the current topics into the new forums.  Don't make it easy on him!  Let's think of at least 20 different ways to split it up.

Seriously though, if you think it needs to be split up some, tell me how you'd split it up (i.e., Pins, MM for hire, Accounts for sale, whatever).  If you want it to stay the way it is, say so too.

lmao, you betcha

anything I can do to help http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' />

----
First of all, I think that the actual frag fest section should be made completely for game discussion of any and all games. Then I think a new subsection should be created for "Cheats and Hacks" (which is what the frag fest section has become filled with). Also, the Screenshots and Videos section should be changed from a subsection of the RuneScape section to a subsection of the Frag fest section, which would enable it to be used for all games and not just RuneScape. Might also consider doing this with the Suggestions section.

Then, possibly, you could change the World of Warcraft Discussion forum into a World of Warcraft Blackmarket section, because I have gotten a few PM's from people asking if they were allowed to sell their WoW accounts there and the discussion would be included in the Frag Fest section. And then possibly add a new subsection of the Frag Fest section for "Other Games Blackmarket" which would cover the new Gaia Online craze.

Then I think the RuneScape For Sale / Wanted section should be renamed so that it isnt as easily confused with the regular For Sale / Wanted section (or vice versa). I'm not really sure if it should be split into subsections or not though...it isn't really as active anymore...

Something that I started on RuneCore is the Transaction section. Where each member can create a thread and log all of their transactions in it, then link to that thread in their sig. It saves a lot of signature space and ultimately makes the sit look cleaner and more organized.

----
Might be nice to give the Elites a nice color, or to split up the Admins' and Mods' colors so that they are easily distinguishable, not important in the slightest, but still a nice touch.

----
Also, I made a thread earlier today informing you that the IP.Board Pro skin doesn't have any ads, other than the googlebot, on it. I think it got deleted and I just wanted to make sure you saw it.

I wouldn't expand it too much http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':(\' />, I've grown accustom to the way it is right now.

yeh, thats why I started with the reorganization, I think that is more important than adding new ones. But the combination of both, in my eyes, would be nice. Possibly, it would be better to froget about splitting up the for sale / wanted section. But I do firmly stand by everything other than that.

I would also like to add that it might be a good idea to seperate the main "General Discussion" category into a few smaller ones. You could even make Frag Fest its own Category, then a tech help category with the Alt-OS, software, and whatnot...and then leave the general discussion category with the private club, idle chat, news...alter it to however you see fit.

---
Also, i was looking at the blog system and I noticed that it is only messed up in the "TheTechGuide" skin. If you copied over that part of the template bit that is causing the error from one of the working skins to the bad skin, it should fix the problem.

I think it's too hard to find what you are looking for so I think it should be split up like this
  • Buying
    • Items
    • Services
    • Accounts/Membership
  • Selling
    • Items
    • Services
    • Accounts/Membership

It's not too complicated and I think it'll help with finding some stuff, if nothing else at least split into buying and selling.
The cake is a lie....

Yeah... and because too many people use the general discussion section for their own talk, I would say making a forum in frag fest just for that.

Or just make it more known that General discussion is used solely for discussion of RuneScape material, and any other discussion should belong (and be moved) to the Idle Chat section. Not really a reason to make a different Idle chat section for frag fest, why separate everyone?

I think my main point is trying to organize the site as a whole, not really add new sections.

Not really separating anyone, Just about everyone who posts in the idle chat section is from the 'frag fest' section... Doesn't really matter though.

Also, another good addition to the site would be an Archive forum. Anything over 1 or 2 months old gets automatically moved there.

dont forget gold section.
also i think we should expand our community of people. it seems very restricted to the people who randomly stumble upon it, and the people from runecore.

we should get more people from other communities and/or increase a bit of advertisement.
Over 2B RSGP MM'd since 2007, with THOUSANDS of dollars in transactions and MM's.

That is a problem I have come into quite a bit while trying to advertise RuneCore. Many places refuse to accept advertising from me because of the content or the site http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':(\' />
