Video card problems
« on: December 19, 2007, 02:55:46 PM »
Okay, so i've been playing a bit of WoW lately, and it would lag when i got into big cities. Most likely its because i'm running it on 256MB of RAM, but it could also be my 7 year old video card. I told my friend and he told me he had a nice 4 year old card that was top of the line back then and he didnt need it anymore. He gave it to me and it has the right slots, and everything fits fine. I put it in last night and it ran WoW decently, definately better than before, but there was still a bit of lag. I thought i should install the driver for it and it would run things more cleanly because that would let the computer take more advantage of the card, so i went online and found the driver STRAIGHT from the manufacturer's website, so I KNOW it's not corrupted. Right after that, i tried running WoW again and I start it up and my monitor goes into standby mode and it wont kick back on, so i have to turn off the computer/monitor power and restart it....Any suggestions?

Operating system?
Did you uninstall old video drivers before installing new ones?

What is the Exact model of Video card you installed?
What was the old one you removed?

i think you video card video card driver has been corrupt or infected by virus.. try to install the video card driver, if nothing works... scan your PC with your updated antirus... http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />
