general trouble (lagging and crashes)
« on: January 07, 2008, 05:17:01 PM »
Hello, My name is Aidan. Long time no see!

I thought I had a handle on the matter, but it seems certain things have gon out of hand lately.
For the past couple of days, while I browse the internet normally, the whole system just crashes and I can only get back in after ctrl+alt Del log out, end task explorer.exe. and log back in (repeat). Other than that, the whole system is just lagging in general, and I tried scanning using Ad-aware, but the program keeps crashing after a short while of scanning the registry. and identifying 14 problems, which I can't deal with, because it crashed...
Also, not on the administrator's profile, but on another, a process called Powerregscheduler.exe or something. keeps occuring with at least ten instances. This makes the system lag, obviously. And I also keep getting an alert from Avast that it needs to reboot the computer...

I appreciate any help I can get in advance. Thank you.

Aidan, I'm willing to help
ONLY if your willing to follow all the steps I post and report back

In the past you have a tendency of not posting back the results

I'll try one Last time
Download Hijackthis Installer from HERE
For an alternate download location, you can try HERE
SAVE it to your desktop
Double click on HJTInstall.exe to run it
Choose Install

Hijackthis v2.0.2 will open

Under Main Menu, Select
Do a system scan and save a Log file
A log will open in Notepad
Copy and Paste the Whole log back here to the forum----It is all important!

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

go to this link

http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
Copy and paste the next line below to the UPLOAD A FILE
C:\WINNT\system32\syst4m.dll

Then use the SEND FILE button
Let it finish scanning
Could you post back the results this scan back here

Also, If you do have a version of combofix, DELETE it
Then
REDownload this file - Combofix.exe and save it ONLY to your desktop

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
It's default location is C:\Combofix.txt

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall
Post th combofix log

The first thing didnt work, all I got was a blank explorer page with a message saying that there were 0 bytes of data uploaded or something like that. I was then GOING to send you the log for combofix...but for some reason, it stopped my internet connection from functionihng properly...what's with that..anyways, I couldnt do anything, I tried reinstalling the drivers for the ethernet card bbut that didnt do anything so I decided to install another OS on the other HD but before iI did that I stupidly decided to switch which of the two cd players was the MAster so that it would read the OS installation CD faster. Thing is, for some reason after that, the two hard drives and cd drives no longer get any power and they don't register so I can't run the computer. Basically, it's screwed and theres not much I can do. And probably the same for you. Maybe just tell me why my connection got busted by combofix.
so yeah, this post is so that you dont worry about me not following up.
thanks for your help.

Combofix makes backups of Everything it removes
It would be impossible for me to tell u what happened to your internet connection
But it sounds like you somewhat jumped the gun

Easy solution to the internet thing...Download firefox, and never use IE again. Firefox > IE
Violent J: "And they wanted to know... If I would trade 10 Juggalos for 100 mainstream fans, ha, and I said I wouldn't trade 10 Juggalos for 100,000 mainstream fans. 10 Juggalos is priceless."

The Dark Carnival SAVED me.
