Installing Conflict Desert Storm
« on: February 05, 2008, 04:34:34 PM »
First I choose the language in the setup. Then I set the install path to E:\... A second after I press next to begin installing, a message pops up:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Component Transfer Error

Component: Main App
File: (Nothing)
File Group: App Executables

The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry about this but I pay no attention to advice such as... buy a new computer, buy a new disk or something I can't or am not willing to do. What would be most help is to tell me what to download or a link that can help me or ... just step by step instructions.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some clues to help you...

1)Before the message pops up, it seems to be installing to:
C:\...\{9FB2CE8C-E86C-4368-B3C9-F472898F926E}\setup.inx, but I told it to install to E:\

2)When I try to open the data1.cab or data2.cab files,
"Winzip cannot open because it is not in the standard Microsofot CAB format (as defined in mid-1998). The "signature bytes" required by the Microsoft CAB specification are missing." It may be because the files are protected.

3)The install windows seems bigger, the letters spread more appart. I am pretty sure that has to do with me messing with the registry and changing some keys. I wanted to change the language for non-unicode programs to English. Here's the site I followed the instructions from: http://www.hostingforum.ca/211890-how-chan...s-registry.html. READ SECOND POST

4)Here's my HjackThis Log if you need it:

One last thing... Don't think I did nothing and just making you guys do all the work and thinking.

1)I did hours of research and looking at websites and other forums. I looked up error messages and so on.

2)I updated and downloaded files to update and fix InstallShield, the program that is installing the games.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for your help in advance! I have been working on this for hours and just can't get it working!
