hard drive keeps running
« on: March 05, 2008, 09:47:48 PM »
Hi! I'm very confused. A few days ago I thought the fan on my (old) Toshiba Satellite A25 keep starting and stopping. HOWEVER, upon closer inspection I realized it's not the fan...it's the hard drive?? This is very annoying! It runs for about 6 seconds and is stopped for about 11 seconds. It is continuous, and it doesn't matter if I'm doing something on the computer, or if the computer is just sitting around.
Does anyone have any ideas why it is doing this? I'd love to get it to stop...without having to buy a new computer!
Thanks in advance http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Hi freckles1215
Can we check and see if anything is running that requires continuous drive access

Do get additional information
Download Hijackthis Installer from HERE
For an alternate download location, you can try HERE
SAVE it to your desktop
Double click on HJTInstall.exe to run it
Choose Install

Hijackthis v2.0.2 will open

Under Main Menu, Select
Do a system scan and save a Log file
A log will open in Notepad
Copy and Paste the Whole log back here to the forum
