Since I spend my entire life on forums/blogs, I have come to find that there are 4 different types of people occupying the vastness of the internet:
1) Normal (very rare) - they take up about 5% of the virtual population. By normal I mean they type in complete sentences, use good grammar, and rarely make a typo.
2) Foreigners - by this I mean people who do not speak English but are trying hard. I have respect for these people, it's really not their fault for their typing mistakes, it's amazing they can type as well as they can. This group spells things correctly (most of the time) and even uses relatively good grammar, however they use the wrong words at the wrong time or in the wrong order.
3) Children - ages 16 and under (for the most part) use
OK grammar, and absolutely horrible spelling.
4) Idiots - these people just do not care. Horrible spelling, horrible grammar, and
little or no punctuation. Often confused with children. Some children are idiots, some adults are idiots, some foreigners are idiots.

It's become relatively easy for me to place people in one of these 4 groups. Within the first few sentences (or part of the way through a run-on sentence in some cases

As for the debate about which is more important (spelling or grammar), I would say grammar. Even I sometimes make spelling mistakes, they are usually due to typing too fast or not re-reading, but bad grammar just shows you are uneducated. However, that being said, I believe the most important thing to consider when typing is punctuation. Anyone who doesn't use punctuation is just an idiot in my opinion.
I'm a child.
