Incorrect function + Win2k
« on: November 14, 2002, 12:54:57 AM »
Hi,
I installed Win2k with SP3 (clean install) on my laptop and connected my HP usb cd writer (CD4e model). The drivers were installed correctly as it is seen from the device manager. The problem is that when I place a blank CD into the cd writer and when I click on the cd drive icon from Windows Explorer it shows a red cross mark with message \"Drive not accessible; Incorrect Function\". When I install HP\'s CD burning software or Nero it still shows the same error message. I cannot erase my rewritable CD\'s as it cannot detect the CD rom.

I have the latest ASPI. On HP\'s website it says that my CD writer model works on Win2k. When I contacted HP they didn\'t know how it is happening and they think it is a problem with Win2k. So I tried on another Win2k machine and I get the same problem. Previously I used WinME and everything worked fine. Anyone have any suggestion? Thanks in advance.
