I think I have a trojan that masks itself as other programs.  My computer was rebooting itself every 20 min or so, and I noticed when I pulled up processes after rebooting, that reader_sl was running, when I closed it, I then had two igfxy processes.  I also noticed only once when I pulled up my homepage, there was another tab with an ownknown website.

Uninstall SpywareBot from Add and Remove Programs and then reboot your computer

Back in Windows
 
Download [color=\"#008000\"]Deckard's System Scanner (dss.exe)[/color] to your desktop.
Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open; main.txt, which will be maximized and extra.txt, which will be minimized.

Post back just the Whole contents of Main.txt and Extra.txt

Thanks!  SpwareBot wasn't in the add/remove program choices, I did search for any files, but all it came up with was a scheduled task for it.  I did delete that.  here are my results now...

You should of also had a log from dss.exe called Extra.txt
It may still be minimized to your task bar
If it's not there can you look in the following folder
C:\Deckards\System scanner

Can you do the following please

Click the Windows 'Start' button > Select 'Run' - then copy/paste this into the run box & click OK (be sure you don't miss that first " mark when you copy)

Save the installer to desktop

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Full Scan", then click Scan.
       
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
       
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
        * When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
       
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediately.

Along with the log from MBAM,
Run dss.exe again, a log will open >>Main.txt
Post the WHOLE contents of that log, you left out some entries last time

Download this file - Combofix.exe and save it ONLY to your desktop
We'll need it in a bit

Download the Flash_Disinfector.exe from here and save to desktop

We'll need it in a bit

Print the remainder of these instructions, or save them to text file on desktop for reference
Physically disconnect your Internet cable from the computer
Leave it disconnected till we run all the next tools
Also, temporarily disable your AntiVirus software till we are done with these tools

Do a "System scan only" with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries:

After you have ticked the above entries, close All other open windows
Including this one
Leave Hijackthis open and click FIX CHECKED
OK the prompt and exit Hijackthis

Run Flash_Disinfector.exe, Follow the prompts
Insert any removable flash drives you may have when prompted

Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
By default it will save a copy to C:\Combofix.txt
I'll need to see this log later
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall
Combofix may need to reboot your computer when it's done, allow it too

Afterwards:
Enable AntiVirus and reconnect back to Internet
If you don't have connection at first, simply reboot computer

Post back
1. Post the log from ComboFix
2. Post a fresh Hijackthis log

Ok, now I did get a weird cannot find Windows disc error when doing the combofix.exe  It did proceed through the whole thing though without rebooting.  Here is the log.

  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it.
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard in blue below by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

OTMoveIt would of created a log at this location

In addition:

to download FindAWF.exe and save it to your Desktop.
Run FindAWF.exe:

    * Double-click on the FindAWF.exe file to run it.
    * It will open a command prompt and ask you to "Press any key to continue".
    * You will be presented with a Menu.

          1. Press 1 then Enter to scan for bak folders
          2. Press 2 then Enter to restore files from bak folders
          3. Press 3 then Enter to remove bak folders
          4. Press 4 then Enter to reset domain zones
          5. Press E then Enter to EXIT


    * Press 1 then press Enter.
    * Copy and paste the contents of the AWF.txt file in your next reply.

move it went fine, but when I did awf, and did 1, enter it scanned for bak files, then gave me a txt.   here it is..

And then it closed, when I reopened to do #2, it came up with this txt file and just sits there.  
Copy the list of files to be restored then click BELOW THE LINE
and paste the list by pressing Ctrl+V

IMPORTANT - Paths containing spaces must be wrapped in quotes!!

When done, close this file and click YES to save the changes.

I didn't ask you to do Option #2 yet?
Now we'll try that step

Double-click the FindAWF icon once again.

If a Security Alert shows, allow the program to run.
As instructed, press any key to continue.
Use the following option: Press 2 then Enter to restore files from bak folders

A text file opens called: files.txt
Click below the line and paste the following list of files in Blue to be restored:

"C:\WINDOWS\SMINST\bak\RECGUARD.EXE"
"C:\WINDOWS\system\bak\hpsysdrv.DAT"

Next, close and click Yes to save the changes.

When done with the above, it automatically runs a new scan and opens a new log.

Actually, I would like to see one more log please

Temporarily disable your AntiVirus software
Then double click on ComboFix.exe to run it
Follow the prompts
Let it run uninterrupted

Post the log from it when it's done please
