Firefox 3 is released.
« on: June 17, 2008, 03:14:13 PM »
Much improved loading time on gmail.
It took me forever to get the site to load to be able to download. You would figure they were expecting a ton of people and would have had there servers ready. I bet they made the record.

Thanks for the heads up Pureblood
I used the direct download link from < HERE >
NOTE: English version

Only took about 30 secs. with the Downloadthemall addon from firefox to get the new version  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

Going to uninstall 2.0.0.14 right now and try installing the latest

Edit>>Uninstall and install went fine
Seems as if only one of my addons is not compatible right now
Dr. Web anti-virus link checker
Oh well, all bookmarks intact

P.S. We should have a software update section

Well, 7 of my 42 Addon's were not compatible, I was able to find private updates on their personal sites for 2 of them, and then I messed around with 2 others to make them compatible myself. Still working on the other three.

Has anyone else noticed that you can't use Quick Edit on IPB forums? That's a little annoying for me. It opens just fine, but when you hit save edits it just stays at the loading screen forever.

Yup, thought it was my internet connection acting up but I guess this is a problem for everyone.

42 Addons must make your Firefox slow...

I actually did some pruning a few weeks ago and got rid of a lot of my addons. The 42 I have installed are just the ones I consider necessary.

Without addons like Simple Mail, Yahoo Mail Notifier, Gmail Notifier, etc., I wouldn't ever remember to check all my emails. Colorzilla, FireFTP, IE Tab, etc. are amazingly convenient for developers. Without ForcastFox, I wouldn't have any idea what number to put into the sentence "Holy freaking crap, it's <insert ForcastFox Number here> degree's outside!" on ventrilo. Addon's like Disable Backspace Navigation make it so you don't accidentally go back a page if you hit backspace, losing potentially valuable information. Almost all of my addons are things I would find it hard to live without.

The only two I can't seem to get working are FasterFox and Compact Menu. Already I'm getting highly annoyed by the extra toolbar at the top that I'm not used to. Luckily FireFox 3 seems to be fast enough that I don't notice a difference in not having FasterFox.

I lol'd when I read the forcast fox thing.

FasterFox = not necessary with Firefox 3
Right click near awesome bar -> customize or check and uncheck bookmarks and/or navigation bar or whatever is listed for you.

Is paypal's thingy working with Firefox 3 yet?

I wasn't talking about those bars. I usually have a mod called Compact Menu. It gets rid of the bar that has "File, Tools, Help, etc." at the top, and gives it a small button that creates a drop down when clicked so you can put it on another toolbar to save a lot of vertical space.

Oh, and quick edit works on every other forum except here at TTG. It might have been done on purpose as it's a good way to keep the moderator logs complete, but it also might be a bug. It was probably just a coincidence that it was done on the same day we all upgraded browsers.
