mouse probs?
« on: July 11, 2008, 08:09:10 PM »
why it is  whenever i play counter-strike my mouse locks up on me, im using a brand new intellimouse explorer 3.0, my pc stats are 2,5ghz p4 1gig 2700 ram, and ati radeon x700. seem i always have this problem with wired or wireless mouse.. my mouse pad is a func pad and no warn sots on it. and i tried making the cord as straight as i could but it naturally wants to bend since the twist tie that came on it.

I think you had a similiar topic that was mouse related and you had it figured to your Wireless mouse
Could that still be the problem?

Have you tried without wireless and went directly wired?
You mention you did, but have you tried wired and a pad that is not reflective?
I've never had a problem with bend in the cord, hmm

this is with my new wired intellimouse explorer 3.0, ive seemed to fixed it by putting the ps/2 connector on vs's using the usb plug but i dont understand why i should have to do that, i dont think anything is wrong with my usb plugs, never had a prob with them.

So your not having a problem?
I don't know what your saying, I have one computer that has a USB to PS2 connector
Mind you, mine is via KVM switch, so I can run 2 seperate boxes on same keyboard, mouse, monitor
Is that what you mean?

what im saying is with some trial and error my mouse  locks up in counter-strike no matter what usb port i use, but when i connect the ps/2 connector it'll work 100%. is it common for people to have to go back to old style ps/2? cause i thought usb was so superior to ps/2. its not like my usbs are broke cause everyone of them works just when in cs when i move a certain way, it sometimes mess's up.

one guy on yahoo answer's said this, "It sounds like your power supply is insufficient to keep the usb supplied with enough power. For example, some Razer mice need quite high PSUs.", and friend says my processor is 2 slow, and usb is very demanding, says if i hook my keyboard up via ps2 instead of mouse, then use usb mouse it'll work fine. does either of them sound right? i cant test friends theory cause im still waiting on my wired keyboard to get here.

Wait on the keyboard and give it a try, at least you can deduct it from the equation

What, the mouse or keyboard?
What operating system are you running?

May help to do the following
Download Deckard's System Scanner (dss.exe) to your desktop.
Close all applications and windows.
Run dss.exe >> follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open; main.txt, which will be maximized and extra.txt, which will be minimized.

Post back the Whole contents of Main.txt and Extra.txt

Older PS2 perhaps

Can you try the following: Just for elimination

Go to START>>>RUN>>>type in services.msc
Hit OK
In the next window, look on the right hand side for this service
name---- Ati HotKey Poller
In the drop down menu, change the startup type to Disabled
Apply and OK it then exit Services

Reboot the computer
See if you experience any freezing afterwards

a guy from another forums says it could be this, http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/9928/devices2yd5.png from where i installed a aftermarket sound card and the error is from the front panel audio of my computer. says that error could be whats conflicting. if so can you explain how to fix, can i just unplug something on my motherboard, or plug it to my sound card so i can use those front audio connections once again?

One of 2 things, either the drivers for the sound card you installed aren't totally installed
OR, you need to disable onboard sound in the bios

I would try latter first, when you installed your new sound card, you should ensure to enter the bios and disable onboard sound so there isn't a conflict
Afterwards, see if you still have the problem in device manager

I still see Ati HotKey Poller running, so I guess you assumed it's not the cause of the problems
It's probably game specific, as it's ownly happening in Counterstrike
I suggest you ask at a CS forum, others may of had similiar problems

I tracked the following down, not sure if any will be of help
