Does anyone had the bad luck of loosing his manuals with the serial numbers for the win 9x CD\'s ?

I do, and I want to know how to retreive these numbers so I can install an older version of windows.

Can someone help me please?

There are two methods that I know of for finding the key

Start >> Run

Type in Regedit

GoTo Edit >> Find

Type in ProductKey (no space between words)

Hit Enter

Be patient. Edit takes a few moments to work.

You\'ll be taken to the key where you can see the 25-digit key

the other si to open regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key
Software
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion

Now, locate the ProductId value in the CurrentVersion subkey.
Here, you\'ll find a copy of the entire certificate number in four
groups of five, three, seven, and five numbers. The CD key number
you need to install Windows 95 is made up of the second and third
group. Simply write down this number and close the Registry Editor.

Almost all of us have losted some sort of documentation out of laziness, thinking we will never need it, or it just plained got up and walked away.

In the thread below about retreving a Office XP, a anon user posted that you can use the \"magical bean key finder\". Im not sure if that is it\'s name...because i could not find it. If you do let us know. I would like to see if it can retrieve a key you never entered

he said it is at www.majorgeeks.com  again i couldnt find it but im sure it is somewhere out there..probably even there but i really looked...and really couldnt find it. Of course i was looking for the filename Magical Bean Key Finder...which might or might not be it.

Im sure that app will work for your case...if you find it let us know in what section. I checked them all but REALLY couldnt find it. I have been known to be completely and utterly blind at times though :-)

try this...
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.html
good for all windows flavors, good for office 97 and XP, not for office 2000
