I have a new laptop that I would like to set up to have 4 different OS's

I have almost similar configuration on my IBM Thinkpad X61 laptop.
Here is how I did it:
1. Install Windows XP/ Vista in the first primary partition.
2. Install OpenBSD in the second primary partition.
3. Install FreeBSD in the third.
4. Install Linux (Debian, in my case) in the fourth - which becomes
extended because of the way Linux handles the partitions.

In a computer more than one operating system can be installed, but it depends up on no of partitions on the hardware,so it is best to use limitedly to have good access and so on.

Install XP first in a partition on the begining of the hard disk.    I assume it is an 80 GB hard disk.    So I install XP on the first 10 GB leaving. Then I boot into XP and create 2 primary partitions of 20 GB each for Free BSD and Open BSD. so 30 GB is gone and you will have 40+ GB as free space.

hi,
we can install more than one operating system but speed gets reduced. so it would be better to use limited number of operating systems for better performance.
