could that be ur motherboard which doesn\'t support ur DDR RAM?
some older motherboard only support PC100/133, maybe u need to check ur motherboard menu and see?

Theres A LOT of shady pc shops out there.  I\'ve experienced them.  Unless the RAM came sealed FROM THE MANUFACTURER, theres no guarentee what it is exactly.  When i buy ram, if its generic, 9 out of 10 times the clerk pulls out a little sealled plastic bag with the stick of ram inside and a label on the front... if they do that, i have them take it back to the tech desk and prove to me that its actually the amount of ram thats on the label.

When you walk back in there to try to exchange it, they will probally think you are swapping your ram out and trying to pull a fast one on them.....

Good luck.... if they give you any static, just freak out!  tell them you are calling the cops to have a report filed.... or better yet tell them  youre a webmaster for some site like MSN or Lycos and youd love to bad mouth them on the front page.  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

yeah man, that will work :-p

but i don\'t think the pc shops would sell a generic ram unless its stated there and very cheap.

Try moving ur ram to another slot.. cause with my brothers computer.. i had a 512 sdram chip and it didnt work in some slots (recognized as 256, but worked in one of them as 512.

Its not a problem of you needing PC100 or PC133 ram. If it was the DDR wouldnt have fit into the socket on the motherboard. Id just switch the socket and see what happens. But if that doesnt work, id just assume that you got some shaddy ram.
