The problem with CDImage 2.47 utility
« on: December 18, 2002, 04:19:41 PM »
Hello all!

I made a multi-boot CD with possibility to run installation of Windows XP and some extra utils. With this itself there is no problems. Then I\'d made the ISO with my project and burn it.

The problem is here:
If I burn the image into CDRW, all is right - the disk is fully readable and can be used with no problem.
Whey I tested the image using CDRW, I\'ve burned it on CDR. So, on CDRecorder I used for it (Toshiba DVD-CDRW 1202) I can read the burned disk with no problem. But when I put this CD in other drive on other computer some files are unreadable. At first I decided that this problem is in CDR. I tried to make one more copy, but result was the same - again, some files were unreadable, and it were the very files as in first copy!
Second intersting moment: using this very CDRom which could\'nt read files from my CDRom I tried to read ISO-image back from my failed CDR. The operation was successfull! There was no problem with reading! So, I can describe the problem in these points:

* ISO images maden by CDImage are well;
* CDRW maden from these images are well too;
* all copies of these ISOs on CDR have some unreadable files - all of them are same in all copies;
* By reading the image back from failed CDR you get the same (byte-by-byte) ISO as was before - with no problem with reading.

So, may be somebody know - possibly CDImage has some problems with the internal format of created images? May be some field like checksums or error corrections in ISO are failed?

Also I found that if I use CDImage 2.39 instead of 2.47 this problem is successfully solved.

I saw in some iriginal CD\'s from Microsoft that they are created using CDImage 2.46 and none by CDImage 2.47 May be it is problem of version?
