Comp is running slow
« on: March 09, 2009, 09:33:00 AM »
I have no clue as to why, but my computer is running very slow. Granted it's not the newest computer (about 5 years old), but I have done all my windows (xp sp3) updates, I have virus protection, and I run a daily spyware scan each morning. I know this doesn't mean the computer is safe, but it's been running very slow lately. By slow I mean it's taking a while to open a program, very slow. Also, if you see any programs that you don't recommend I use, please let me know. Anything you can do to help is appreciated. Here is my HiJack This log, thanks...

Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from >>here<< and save it to your desktop.
 • Double click on RSIT.exe and choose to Run it
 • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
 • Your firewall may alert you that RSIT is requesting Internet access. Please allow it.
 • Once it has finished, two logs will open:  log.txt<-- this will be maximized and info.txt<-- this will be minimized.
Post both those logs please

NOTE: If you get an error message trying to post the logs back here to the forum
Just post info.txt back here
And upload log.txt

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Follow the instructions posted http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/index.php/topic/22942-please-read-how-to-post-logs-from-frst/\'>Click Here

I see the following
Quote
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Advanced SystemCare 3] "C:\Program Files\IObit\Advanced SystemCare 3\AWC.exe" /startup

Means you frequently run a registry cleaner on your system, is that correct?
I've see more often, registry cleaners take a good workable system and make them inoperable

Take a look at the following:
