« on: March 26, 2009, 09:42:59 AM »
GUESTOLO..please help..
this is how things are happening.....when I boot up my computer it goes throough all the start up processes..and after my desktop has been up and all the program icons (i only have about 7) have started in the right hand corner , and everything looks normal... I try to find "my computer" on windows ait is not there after about 8 minutes ...the windows sign on music finally sounds....any program I try to start after that takes about 8 minutess before it appears and then anything I try to do in that program takes about 3 minutes.
I am lucky after two days of trying to get on the internet. I have run Spybot S&D and ad-aware and malwarebuytes....nothing shows any malicious threats..
can you take a look at my HJT log (even HJT Thid is slow load and run)and see if you can help me ?
I am running windows xp.

Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from >>here<< and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe and choose to Run it
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Your firewall may alert you that RSIT is requesting Internet access. Please allow it.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open:  log.txt<-- this will be maximized and info.txt<-- this will be minimized.
Post both those logs please

NOTE: If you get an error message trying to post the logs back here to the forum
Just post info.txt back here
And upload log.txt

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Follow the instructions posted http://www.thetechguide.com/forum/index.php/topic/22942-please-read-how-to-post-logs-from-frst/\'>Click Here

I see you have Malwarebytes AntiMalware installed
Can you open it please
Click on the Update tab>>Check for Updates
After it is successfully updated
Open the Scanner tab
  • Select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.

  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
        * When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)

  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

We didn't delete any file related to SpySweeper, we only killed it's process when running the fix with OTMoveit3

Can you do the following
Open MalwareBytes AntiMalware
Click on the Update tab>>Check for Updates
Are any updates found?

Edit>>If there are new updates (There should be)
Can you run another quick scan and post it's new log

Oh, and can you let me if you purposely installed this program
CA VMN Anti-Spyware

I'm just on my way to bed, did you see my last reponse?
Here it is again

Quote
We didn't delete any file related to SpySweeper, we only killed it's process when running the fix with OTMoveit3

Can you do the following
Open MalwareBytes AntiMalware
Click on the Update tab>>Check for Updates
Are any updates found?

Edit>>If there are new updates (There should be)
Can you run another quick scan and post it's new log

Oh, and can you let me if you purposely installed this program
CA VMN Anti-Spyware

Do you want to post your own logs from FRST?

Nope, it shouldn't, just be careful what sites you visit  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

I hope things are running better now?

Let's try another tool
Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3
Save it ONLY to your Desktop

      --------------------------------------------------------------------
Temporarily Disable your AntiVirus/AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with this tool

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply

NOTE: Do not mouseclick inside ComboFix window as it's running, it may cause it to stall
ComboFix will/may run again on startup, it will prompt that it's creating a log
This process could take up to 10 minutes, let it run uninterrupted please

With the log from ComboFix, can you also include a fresh log from Hijackthis
