slow startup

Hey My computer takes about 5+ mins after selecting a profile at the log in screen before I am actually able to do anything. and It wasn't like this before. I probably just need a clean up. can you let me know what I should do? I know you probably want a HJT log but I thought I would ask before I do anything. BTW I have tried to run the defragmenter before and after 24 hours it still hadnt completed is that normal? I dont think so. It seemed to have stopped but I cant say for sure if it had because it is so slow I just stopped it.

What is sounds like to me is that you have a lot of applications that run at start-up.

My computer is messed up ATM so i cant even tell you how to go about removing some of the unnecessary programs from start-up to make it faster but thats basically what it sounds like you might have to do.

If you know how to access that list of programs try that before anything. One thing i did when i had a similar problem is I disabled all of the Instant Messengers and Other things like microsoft word, etc because i never used them.

A HJT log would be dandy and i know that as soon as questolo sees your thread he will ask you to post one so you might as well do it ahead of time

I'm not seeing much wrong, can you do the following please

Download [color=\"#FF0000\"]> ATF Cleaner <[/color] by Atribune and save it to your Desktop.

Double Click on ATF-Cleaner.exe to Run it
Check the boxes to the left of:

Windows Temp
Current User Temp
All Users Temp
Temporary Internet Files
*Prefetch (Windows XP) only.
Java Cache

The rest are optional - if you want to remove the lot, check "Select All".
Finally click Empty Selected. When you get the "Done Cleaning" message, click OK.
If you use Firefox browser
      Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
      Click the Empty Selected button.
      NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit from the Main menu

Save the installer to desktop

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
