Low screen light - need help please!!
« on: April 16, 2009, 01:17:28 PM »
I desperately need some help! I have an HP Pavilion dv6439nr that is about a year and a half old (so no longer under warranty). Over the past few weeks, the backlight on the screen display has gotten progressively darker. It's now to the point where it's very difficult to see anything on the screen during the daytime (not outside and not in direct sunlight!). At night I can a tiny bit better, but it's still very difficult. I have to be literally about 8 inches away from the screen to read anything.

It seemed to me that it happened after I left the computer on for 3 days; however, I had the power plan set so it went to sleep after 15 minutes, so the screen wasn't on that whole time.

I've tried changing the power plan again and the brightness is definitely at the max. Is there a bulb that needs replaced or something? Any help is much appreciated!!

Can you please post the Exact model of your LCD screen, maybe we can help track down others with the same problem

It's an HP Pavilion dv6439nr laptop. Not a separate LCD monitor.

That was happening to me a few days ago and a restart fixed it, but I suppose that wouldn't be the case if it has been progressing along over weeks since you surely have turned it off by now.

Have you tried the F8 or F7 keys to ensure you never accidently turned down the brightness?
You may have to also use the function key
