Problmes with XP and rundll32.exe
« on: August 10, 2009, 04:31:11 PM »
Hello,

Whenever I try to open Control Panel>Add/Remove program or Command Prompt, i get an error saying that windows cannot find c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe  .. I dont know what's the problem with that ?? ..

In addition to that, I frequenly get generic host 32 error and RPC locator error and hence my internet connection gets stuck .. It's very frustrating ..

In addtiton to all these, i alos hv other nightmare ..

When I start my internet connection, in about 5-10 min, data usage becomes 20-30 MB(Download+Upload both) even if only gmail.com is open ..

So I'm worried that something somewhere is eating away my bandwidth and I'm predicting a higher bill this month ..

I hv several svchost.exe processes running in my task bar .. Is it the cause or something else??

Please helpme with this problem ..

Sorry for the delay, I've been away
If you still need a hand, can you do the following please
Download Hijackthis Installer from HERE
For an alternate download location, you can try HERE
SAVE it to your desktop
Double click on HJTInstall.exe to run it
Choose Install

Hijackthis v2.0.2 will open

Under Main Menu, Select
Do a system scan and save a Log file
A log will open in Notepad
Copy and Paste the Whole log back here to the forum----It is all important!
