Migrating Windows machine to new iMac as virtual machine (with VMWare). Problem is VMWare only works with retail version, not OEM. Would like to "slip in" the easiest retail XP without having to disturb/backup etc. data and apps. I inherited Media Edition with the machine, never used its potential, so any OS is fine as long as I can leave the rest alone. Hopefully. I am not so concerned about the functionality of the old Windows apps which I do not expect to having to use much, but rather about the familiarity of the (huge) old directory structure. That's why I don't want to just grab my doc, xls, jpg and pdf files and throw them into new Mac directories.
