What equipment do I need to setup my 2 computers with a wired network? I wouldn't call myself a novice when it comes to computers but, I have read so much stuff that I am thoroughly confused. Are you able to help me with this? Also I guess I should add that I don't want to use a cable to connect them as they are in 2 separate rooms.

The question you are asking is a bit confusing. You first state that you want a wired connection, but then you do not want to connect the computers together via wire because they are in separate rooms?

If I may ask a couple questions to help you out. Do any of the computers in your home connect to the internet now? I'm assuming that answer to that question is yes, because you are on this forum. More details, the better though. Who is your cable provider? Are you connecting via cable internet or dsl? Or are you using dial up internet?

Do you want to have wireless internet in your home? So you can connect multiple computers to the interment without the use of wires?

Some modems got an USB hub. But you need the driver for USB. Check your modem if theres an USB Slot. Then just plug and install the driver if there are any usb slots. Now, just check if your modem got an USB Cable. Usually you got USB cables by buying that modem is the modem has got any USB hub. Hope this helps
