Installing Windows 2000 Pro on Mac w/VirtualPC6
« on: March 21, 2003, 03:24:46 PM »
I\'m trying to install Windows 2K SP2 using a bootable CD (slipstreamed) onto a iMac using Virtual PC 6.0/DOS.  The problem is that Virtual PC will not boot from CD and the Setup.exe on the root of the CD appears to only run under Windows and not DOS.

I have successfully installed Windows 2K from this burned CD onto my PC so I know it works properly.

My question is:  Where do I find the EXE that is launched when computer is booted off the CD and can I simply launch this application from the DOS prompt under Virtual PC to initiate the install.

Thanks.

Create the boot set by by doing the following assuming the cdrom dirve is \'D\'

boot from a Win98 Set-up floppy or other floppy with CD-ROM drivers
type at the command prompt: D:i386setup.exe /?

there should be an option to create a bootable disk set, once created boot from the diskset to install win2k with out booting from cdrom http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':)\' />

PS: Why emu a IBM on a MAC, Get a real PC, get a IBM
