Dell Latitude D820 XP clean install issues
« on: November 24, 2012, 09:33:49 PM »
I was forced to do a clean install on my sister's laptop, and I'm having issues finding all of the correct drivers and whatnot. I could not locate her install discs, so I resorted to using an older version of Windows XP. I installed this version (Windows XP Service Pack 1a) and had no idea how basic it was. I have been downloading files on my computer and transferring them onto hers via flashdrive. I cannot figure out how to connect to the internet after completing the clean install. I have run out of ideas on how to correct my issues, I have gone thru and updated to service pack 2 and then SP3 without much benefit. I've also installed Intel PROSet wireless manager, but I cannot seem to locate/nor install the correct driver to get wireless. I do not know what to do from here, please help me!!

-- her laptop has an ethernet cable input as well, but i also cannot figure out how to make a connection thru that either...

You should post the Exact Make/model of your computer

Sorry, I'm not at home right now, my responses might be a bit to quick.. Must learn to slow down  http://images.thetechguide.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif\' class=\'bbc_emoticon\' alt=\':P\' /> In addition,
Internet is very spotty at the camp I'm at.. May not get on some nights

Have you checked Dell site
Sounds like you need the Wireless and Ethernet drivers

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/latitude-d820

Look under Network section
