Let me first tell you the facts.
I have a wmp.bat file with the following line
start /wait setup_wm.exe /AcceptPrivacyAgreement /SetWMPAsDefault /Q:a
I have a runonce.bat file that calls the wmp.bat.
The runonce.bat file resides in the c:/winnt directory after the installation from CD is finished and the system boots up for the first time.
The wmp.bat file resides in \"c:\winapps\wmp\\" directory.
Here's the problem, has anyone overcome them or know how to get around them..........
What happens is that Windows Media Player 9.0 tries to connect to the internet when the installation begins \"IF\" it is called from a batch file (at least that's the best I can figure). Even if I open a cmd window and type \"C:\winapps\wmp\setup_wm.exe\" from the root (C:\) it will try and connect.
The error you get is \"Setup is currently unable to detect available updates. Please try again later\"
BUT, if I simply double click the batch file residing in the wmp directory (wmp.bat for those not following along

\' /> ) the installion runs without a hitch. No problems at all. But of course that is not unattended.
I have tried adding it to the cmdlines.txt to no avail. I have tried looking all over the web. I have tried everything I can thing of.
Why can't setup_wm.exe be run from a batch file residing in a seperat directory without setup_wm.exe trying to connect to the web?
Why can't a batch file be called from another batchfile outside of the directory setup_wm.exe is in and have setup_wm.exe install without connecting to the web.
I have downloaded the WMP9_redist.zip package. I have unpacked. and as I have said. It works fine as long as I manually double click the wmp.bat file that is in the wmp directory. If I try and call anything in there from outside to make it run. Setup_wm.exe just hangs and hangs and hangs.
