help needed

i wonder if anybody could help.
my story is: asus a7v8x, amd athlon xp 2500+ burton, msi GeForce4 MX440-8X, running w2k pro.

system randomly hangs. it did not when i had amd athlon xp 2400+ thoroughbred
there's nothing in the event log after restart.

do you know some really good testing utility to determine the problem?

i would be very thankfull for any hint

Have you flashed with the latest BIOS? If not you should do so. Anything overclocked?

flashed, no overclocking so far ;o)), memory tested with memtest, absolutly stabe before i changed the cpu ;o((
