So I picked up the December issue of the Official Xbox Magazine this weekend at the advice of
Penny Arcade. The included demo disk had Bloodrayne, Splinter Cell, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Toe Jam and Earl 3, and maybe a few others.
Initial reactions:
1.
Bloodrayne - freaking sweet. Gameplay was nice with a selectable 1st person, 3rd person, 3rd person w/ strafe controls as well as control sets for lefties. The controls were a lil weird at first but it was a hella fun demo. You have to check this one out.
2.
Splinter Cell - very realistic (other than the jumping). I have never been good at tactical games like that, but it was really fun. Thermal vision and night vision were fantastic.
3.
Panzer Dragoon Orta - are you kidding me? It was NOT what I expected. Fixed path game w/ less than stellar fun levels....sad, very sad. I expected a lot out of this game.
4.
Toe Jam... - Boring. Didn't get into the originals on Sega and I didn't get into this one. The game was confusing and I just didn't have fun with it. The graphics were very nice though, so if you liked the originals then this may be a game you want to pick up.
That's all for now.

EDIT: Note that these games are still in demo! This is not the final game...not anywhere close. These games had to have time to be burned onto disc in time for the December issue of OXM. I will revisit these games when the game hits the shelves.
