Affordable FAST Video Card ?
« on: July 17, 2003, 06:53:57 PM »
My old SteathIII video card went out on me, and I'm back to my ancient Viper V330 (4MB).

I need to get a new card but I'm totally confused as to which is the best.  I've looked at FiringSquad.com for their reviews but they never seem to review ALL the current models against each other.

Right now my choices are:

geForce FX 5200
geForce FX 5200 Ultra
geForce FX 5600 Ultra
Radeon 9500 Pro
Radeon 9600 Pro

Of those, which is the best for the money.

Thanks.

The Radeon cards ... fast, but may have driver problems with some games
Geforce cards ... quite fast but Drivers may be unstable on OS instalation.

I would go for a radeon personally ... but there isnt a lot of diffrence between them

The Radeon 9600Pro is the fastest (best) of all the cards you listed. Don't believe me check out the June copy of Maximum PC magazine. They say the 9600pro is the best buget card. The ti4200 is too old, no DX9 support. I'm going to upgrade my 9000Pro to the 9600pro soon.
