Every time that you shut down the computer, you may receive the following error message at the Windows is shutting down... screen:
Your system is low on virtual memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file. During this process memory requested for some applications may be denied.
[color=\"red\"]CAUSE[/color]
This behavior may occur if you have Symantec Norton Personal Firewall program, which is included with Norton Internet Security, installed. This behavior may occur if you have the Norton Personal Firewall file, Iamapp.exe loaded from the Startup group in the Windows registry.
[color=\"blue\"]RESOLUTION[/color]
To resolve this issue, configure the Norton Personal Firewall program to start from the Windows Startup folder instead of from the Windows registry. To do this, follow these steps:
Start Windows Explorer. To do this, right-click Start, and then click Explore.
Navigate to the following folder location, where C: is the drive on which Windows is installed:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp
On the File menu, point to New, and then click Shortcut.
In the Create Shortcut dialog box, click Browse, and then browse to the following file:
C:\Program Files\Norton Personal Firewall\IAMAPP.EXE
Note Depending on whether you have Norton Personal Firewall or Norton Internet Security installed, Norton Personal Firewall may also be Norton Internet Security Family Edition or another version of Norton Internet Security.
Click OK, and then click Next.
Type a descriptive name for the shortcut, and then click Finish.
Quit Windows Explorer.
Click Start, click Run, type msconfig in the Open box, and then click OK.
Click the Startup tab, click to clear the IAMAPP check box under Startup Item, click Apply, and then click Close.
Click Restart to restart the computer.
